Don't Let This Happen to You!

Example 1 - A homeowner obtained bids from several contractors to paint their home, then selected the one with the lowest bid. The contract specified a particular color and brand of paint. The contractor showed up for the job with paint cans with the brand name on them that was specified in the contract. What they didn't know is he had filled the cans with inferior paint and resealed the cans.

Example 2 – A homeowner responded to a flyer to have their siding replaced. Once the siding was installed, the salesman asked the homeowner whether or not they wanted the trim, eves and gutters done as well. To their surprise these were not covered in the contract, and the cost was as much as the siding.

Example 3 – Water was dripping through the ceiling down a wall. A roofing contractor was called in and he said the entire roof needed to be replaced. The homeowner agreed to this expensive project. What they didn't know is the leak could have been repaired and a new roof was not necessary.

Too bad your house didn't come with an owner's manual and a week-long seminar where you learn how to care for your new castle and increase its worth. The keys to the castle did not come with a troubleshooting guide, or a wise master to unlock the mysteries of the place you call home.

Then again, that's why thousands of people come to this website – to get their Homeowner's Manual .

Your home is your biggest investment. It's where you spend most of your time, so keeping it healthy, well maintained, and safe is smart.

A well maintained home will usually increase in value and when sold, will bring top dollar. A home that is not maintained will decrease in value and when sold, will be sold as a “fixer-upper” for a lower price.
